Cheese in the Trap (2016) is a South Korean television series directed by Lee Yoon Jung and starring Park Hae-jin, Kim Go-eun, Seo Kang-joon and Seo Kang-joon. The series is based on the Cheese in a Trap webtoon serialized on Naver Webtoon from 2010–2016. When this series was filmed it featured an original ending since the webtoon had not been completed. It aired on the cable network tvN from January 4, 2016 through March 1, 2016.

Cheese in the Trap is one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable television history and it marks the television debut for film actress Kim Go Eun.

The Cheese in the Trap drama focuses on the life and relationships of a group of university students, particularly the difficult relationship between hard-working scholarship student Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) and her deceptively kind senior, Yoo Jung (Park Hae-jin).

In Cheese in the Trap, Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun) is determined to study hard and overcome her impoverished background. She is a dedicated student, but she decides she who wants to take time off college because she is being harassed by a senior student. This student is Yoo Jung (Park Hae Jin) and he is the heir to the Taerang Group. He is an athletic student who is also handsome, rich and popular and he has returned to college as an upperclassman after serving his mandatory military service. Hong Seol surprising receives one year of free tuition which helps eliminate her financial woes, so she decides to stay in school. However, she soon discovers that the broody Yoo Jung is somehow responsible for her scholarship. Despite Seol’s best efforts, she continually has unfortunate run-ins with Jung, even though her friends, Jang Bo Ra (Park Min Ji) and Kwon Eun Taek (Nam Joo Hyuk), try to run interference for her. Seol is confused about why Jung would help her with the scholarship and when he begins paying attention to her in ways she’s not use to, she gets caught between the attentions of the mysterious Yoo Jung and his estranged friend, Baek In Ho (Seo Kang Joon) who dropped out of high school because of something that happened between he and Yoo Jung and returned after years apart.
