Full House (2004)

Full House (2004) [Pul-hauseu] is a South Korean romantic comedy television series starring Song Hye-kyo, Rain, Han Eun-jung and Kim Sung-soo. It is based on the manhwa Full House by Won Soo-yeon. The series aired on KBS2 beginning on July 14, 2004 through September 4, 2004.

Full House (2004) is considered to be a pioneer of the “romantic comedy” genre in Korean drama. The drama was a very successful in Asia and it helped to propel the Korean Wave.

In order to reacquire her childhood home, a free-spirited woman agrees to a sham-marriage with a selfish actor. Their daily lives are complicated by overlapping love triangles and comic misadventures.

Han Ji-eun (Song Hye-kyo) is an an aspiring scriptwriter who lives in a house called “Full House” built by her late father. Her two best friends trick her into believing that she has won a free vacation and then while she is away, they sell her house. On the airplane, Ji-eun meets a famous actor by the name Lee Young-jae (Rain) and through some rather comedic events, they become acquainted during her vacation. When Ji-eun returns, she discovers that her house has been sold and that it has been to Young-jae.

To resolve the issue Ji-eun and Young-jae agree to live in the house together as roommates, even though they don’t get along because of their contrasting habits. He is a neat freak with a bad temper and she isn’t exactly neat. Ji-eun begins working as his maid in an effort to buy back her house, but they soon decide to enter into a contract marriage so that Young-jae can make his childhood crush, Kang Hye-won (Han Eun-jung), jealous. Complications arise as Ji-eun and Young-jae become more and more attracted to one another.
